Energous Corporation Signs JDA with SK Telesys to Develop Product Reference Designs with WattUp(TM) Wire-free Charging Technology
SAN JOSE, CA / ACCESSWIRE / November 3, 2014 / Energous Corporation ("Energous" or "the Company") (WATT), the developer of WattUp(TM), a disruptive wire-free charging technology for electronic devices that provides power at a distance with complete mobility under full software control, today announced a joint development agreement (JDA) with SK Telesys, a communications equipment provider specializing in repeaters, customer premises equipment (including Giga-WiFi and AP), transmission equipment, LTE, smart phone R&D, high-efficiency machinery and other communications infrastructure. Energous and SK Telesys will develop reference designs for embedded WattUp wire-free charging capabilities in SK Telesys products for the Asian and global markets.
"Wire-free charging is an essential capability for our future products and critical to our ability to remain competitive, said "Kang, Myung Hoon, R&D Head of SK Telesys. "WattUp's differentiation from other so-called wireless charging technologies – namely those requiring mats – makes it a truly groundbreaking feature that we are excited to integrate across our portfolio."
"SK Telesys is a pivotal partner for Energous based on the depth and breadth of SK Telesys' business in Asian and global markets," said Stephen R. Rizzone, CEO of Energous Corporation. "We are excited to witness the scale of next-generation wire-free charging products this partnership will enable."
WattUp is a revolutionary, patent-and trademark-pending solution that delivers intelligent, scalable power via the same radio bands as a Wi-Fi router. WattUp differs from current wireless charging systems in that it delivers meaningful, useable power, at a distance, allowing users to roam while charging. The result is a true wire-free experience that saves users from having to remember to plug in their devices or place them on a mat.
